The First Tour- 1993

The FHHPS included plans for a Home & Garden Tour in its 1987 application for tax exempt status and announced that intent at the dedication of the Forest Hill Historic District. The first tour, held in 1993 featured only gardens and stretched from Rumson to Brewster, Glynn to Chelsea, Henley to Blackmore.

Nine gardens were featured on the tour. Nancy Moody was the organization’s President at the time (she is now an Honorary Trustee.) and Cathryn Kapp (also an Honorary Trustee and Past President) was the Garden Tour Planning Committee Co-Chair with Michael Prunty.

The Second Tour - 1995

The second tour opened neighborhood homes as well as gardens for viewing . Sixteen stops from Brewster to Rumson and Newbury to Hollister showed the full breadth of the area.

Nancy Moody was the organization’s President at the time (she is now an Honorary Trustee) and Michael Prunty was the Garden Tour Planning Committee Chairman.

The Forth Tour - 1999

Ten Gardens and five homes with gardens were opened for viewing during the forth biennial tour. Three Rockefeller homes on Glynn plus six scattered throughout the historic district were supplemented by homes on the southern edge of the neighborhood.

Jim Uhler served as acting President of the organization. Jim Harmon, Nancy Moody and Don Schmitt served as Garden Tour Planning Committee Co-Chairs.

The Sixth Tour - 2003

"Rockefeller's Vision Revisited" The sixth tour concentrated on the original historic district with a wide variety of different home design being featured. After local television coverage and plenty of media information, this is the most successful tour to date. Nancy Moody and Don Schmitt served as Garden Tour Planning Committee Co-Chairs.

The Fifth Tour - 2001

There were twelve stops on the fifth tour, including the Heights Rockefeller Building and the McGregor Retirement Home.

Jim Uhler served as acting President of the organization. Betsy Kaufman and Steve Morchak served as Garden Tour Planning Committee Co-Chairs. Miriam and Celso Gilberti were Honorary Co-Chairs.

The Seventh Tour - 2005


"Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" With the addition of a home built by Donald J. Scholz, a collection of the original Rockefeller homes and a concentrated effort on education, this edition of the Home & Garden Tours was a very popular effort, hampered only by the high temperatures and humidity.

Jeffrey R. Dross was President of the organization. Tour Chairs were not assigned, with the entire board taking responsibility for various tasks. The board was: Diana England, Sharon Gregor, Lynn Haney, Dawn Jordan, Michele J. Ladouceur, Mark Lowe, Steve Morchak, Jamain Owens, Kesha Owens, Marcia Steele

The Eighth Tour - 2007

The most recent tour worked to bring the full neighborhood together again. Encompassing the historic district and the new area, plus the addition of Trolley transportation and more education, this would be the quintessential tour.

Organizational President transitioned from Jeffrey R. Dross to Kesha Owens, but did not impact the tour. As in 2005, the entire board taking responsibility for various tasks. The board was: Diana England, Lynn Haney, Dawn Jordan, Linda Johnston, Desirée D. Kellers, Michele J. Ladouceur, Steve Morchak, Jamain Owens, Frank Ricchi, Marcia Steele
